We stayed at a Travelodge in Swords….real close to the airport and north of the Dublin Town Center.
It sounded like all the action was going down in Dublin….but Mark and I were stuck in Swords – waiting for his conference call from work.
When I went scavenging for stamps – the reception desk pointed us in the direction of this town…..it doesn’t even show up in our Frommer’s guide. So neat…it was an adventure into Swords and we stumbled upon a castle. Now Andre wants to tell his tale.
ANDRE WANTED TO GO TO IRELAND. LOUIE WANTED TO GO TO IRELAND
ANDRE AND LOUIE TRY TO SNEAK INTO MARKIE’S CARRY-ON BAG. MOMMY CAUGHT US. MOMMY SAID WE NEED TO DECIDE WHO GET’S TO GO TO IRELAND. ANDRE WANTED TO GO TO IRELAND.
LOUIE SAID HE’LL READ ABOUT IRELAND AND THEN WE CAN PLAY A GAME ABOUT WHO’S SMART ENOUGH TO GO TO IRELAND. ANDRE DIDN’T WANT TO PLAY THE GAME.
ANDRE WENT TO IRELAND.
MARKIE WAVES TO MOMMY – IN IRELAND.
MARKIE SAID THE SIGN IS IN ENGLISH AND GAELIC.
MOMMY TAKES US TO SWORDS TO FIND STAMPS. MOMMY SAID WE FOUND A CUTE TOWN AND STAMPS.
MOMMY AND MARKIE FIND A BAR. ANDRE TAKES PART IN THE NATIONAL PASTIME OF IRELAND.
MOMMY AND MARKIE SEE THESE BIG BIG TOWERS FROM THE MAIN STREET OF SWORDS. MOMMY AND MARKIE WALK UP TO SEE WHAT IT IS.
MOMMY SAID IT WAS AN ANGLICAN CEMETARY. MOMMY SAID SHE FOUND A TOMBSTOMB FROM THE 1600’S.
THEN MOMMY AND MARKIE FOUND A CASTLE.
MOMMY FOUND OUT IT WAS FREE TO GO IN.
MOMMY SAID THE CASTLE GOES BACK TO 1100’S. ANDRE THINKS A LOT OF THINGS ARE OLD IN IRELAND.
MARKIE FINALLY TAKES A PICTURE WITH ANDRE.
ANDRE FINDS A BRIDGE AND A STREAM OUTSIDE OF THE CASTLE.
ANDRE FINDS XMAS IN SWORDS.
Andre looks like he had a great time. I admire how he showed enough class not to embarrass Louie in a game of intelligence and knowledge. One day Louie will be as smart as Andre is now. Today is not that day. Go Bears and a for Andre – you da bear!
